November is National Hospice and Palliative Care Month — a time when hospice and palliative care organizations across the country come together to raise awareness about the highest quality of care for people dealing with life-limiting illnesses.
According to the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, nearly 1.6 million people receive hospice and/or palliative care every year. These highly-trained professionals work to ensure all parties involved — the patient and their loved ones — receive care with dignity, respect, and love during the difficult journey.
Our team of dedicated hospice professionals is made up of:
- Registered nurses
- Certified nursing assistants
- Licensed social workers
- Bereavement specialists
- Nurse practitioners
- Physicians
- Chaplains
- Volunteers
Hospice and palliative care is our specialty, and our team is devoted to providing the very best medical care and emotional and spiritual support for patients and their loved ones. We help loved ones navigate these trying and emotional times through our specialized care offerings while enabling the patient to enjoy more meaningful moments together.
If you’d like to join the cause this National Hospice and Palliative Care Month, here are some ways to get involved:
- Volunteer at a hospice organization in your area. Volunteers help with all sorts of tasks from administrative duties to reading to patients, helping them with groceries and errands, providing comfort and support to the patient and their families, and much more.
- Donate to the Hospice Foundation of America or a hospice organization in your area.
- Raise awareness among your friends, co-workers, and family about the critical role hospice caretakers and medical professionals play in end-of-life care.
